Dana Shaeffer

Artistʼs Statement

“The transformation from pixel to paper is my response to the world around me.”

Shaefferʼs works are derived from her digital photos.  For some, several photos were combined, enhanced and adjusted on a computer.   Cows or horses may have been taken from several photos and placed into a totally different setting or cliffs may have been put together to enhance a background. From the resulting photo collage a drawing was created….a personal response to a scene remembered.

Dana Shaeffer is a transplant to Arkansas. She taught art for twenty-fi ve years in her native Iowa. After retiring, she opened a studio there, but worked several seasons at the Folk Center. She now draws and weaves in her home here in Mountain View.  Her work is represented in corporate and private collections throughout Iowa and the Midwest. She continues to weave at the Folk Center and, this year, woven works can be seen in her studio during the Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour.    dwshaeffer@hotmail.com
